Footminders Kids orthotics are a medical-grade orthotic designed to provide biomechanical support and restore the child’s walking pattern. By re-aligning the child’s feet early on, many biomechanical complaints can be prevented, allowing the feet to develop more naturally. Footminders Kids orthotics are safe to use, however if your child suffers from a major foot deformity or particular illnes or medical condition, we recommend you consult your pediatrician or specialist first, before using Footminders.

From the day they’re born, all children have flat feet. By the age of 4 or 5, the arches usually start to develop. However, with some children the feet remain flat, or with very low arches. It is important to point out that arch height is not actually the main concern in young children. It is more important to determine whether your child suffers from excessive pronation (rolling inward of the ankles). Over-pronation is easily diagnosed. If you draw an imaginary line from the tip of the ankle bone downwards and the line ends away from the foot (see example to the right), your child over-pronates and their feet need correcting.
Over-pronation causes the child to develop an abnormal gait pattern. At a young age these children may not suffer from any type of foot pain, but later on they are likely to develop conditions such Children’s Heel Pain (Sever’s Disease), Children’s Knee pain (Osgood-Schlatters disease), general foot pain, ankle pain and/or aching legs. Growing pains (which all children will experience) are often more severe in children with over-pronating feet than kids with balanced feet.Footminders KIDS Orthotics, available in two shoe sizes:
Footminders KIDS orthotics are available in two sizes: Kids (K) and Small Kids (SK). In general, the SK orthotic is suitable for children from about 4 1/2 years of age to about 6 years, and the K orthotic will fit children from 7 to 9.
For children with a shoe size 4 or larger, the Casual or Comfort orthotics are suitable (for example, X-Small will fit a shoe size 4). Footminders Kids orthotics are suitable for most types of children’s footwear. No special fitting is required, just slip the orthotics in their shoes.
